Role Summary/Purpose:

Control application engineering role is for global freight control application engineering team. In this role, Individual will lead team consists of Engineering Managers and ETL’s, working on locomotive control system applications involving traction & auxiliary control, control integration, Engine & Train control, and control NPI & NTI’s to deliver on the identified business goals while ensuring cost, speed, and quality. Individual would act as a change agent, drives business vision, and would contributes towards overall business strategy. Drive growth with contemporary leadership skills.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Lead team through the product life cycle from control design, model development, input to software, testing involvement, for requisitions, field reliability, NPI’s, NTI’s. Establish his organization priorities /goals in line with business needs.

• Provide leadership for assuring design execution quality, responsiveness & timeliness, along with technical direction for assigned programs and personnel. Ensure proper resource allocation, clear roles & responsibilities assignment, and on-time flawless execution, ensuring close co-ordination with all interfaces.

• Own, manage & meet all functional budgets, execute to the allocated budget while meeting business schedule/on-time delivery and quality.

• Own & Lead People review process, with responsibility for employee development & performance management. Grow, develop, and mentor leaders & technologists. Build technical & leadership pipeline for the team; execute strategic and tactical workforce planning.

• Inspire team, grow ownership & accountability within organization.

• Pro-actively partner, connect cross-functionally with peers to meet customer commitments & drive continuous improvements.

• Embrace Fast Works and drive innovation opportunity. Implement initiatives to continuously improve the responsiveness to customer/business needs.

• Effectively communicate vertically and horizontally in the organization.

• Ensure regulatory & intellectual property compliance rigor & maintain "No excuses" leadership culture with integrity, EHS, and Safety compliance.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in degree in Electronics /Electrical /Electro mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

• Minimum of 15+ years’ experience with product development, with 5+ years in functional leadership role within a global engineering environment.

• Strong track record of leadership.

• Demonstrated ability to execute large and complex customer requisitions with in-depth understanding of control software development, configuration control and release methodologies.

• Proven strong interpersonal, influencing, communication and leadership skills.

• Proven track record of delivering results and leading teams in dynamic business environment.

• Ability and willingness to travel as required.

• Strong technical background in application engineering in Transportation product-based business.

• Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness to solve problems and deliver results. Passion for continuous improvement and building and growing people.

• Customer facing and service experience.

• Strong project management skills.

• Proven change agent capable of influencing and raising the bar in a matrix organization. Ability to lead and influence cross-functional team efforts.
