Eversource Energy Lead Engineer, Gas Asset Management (Hybrid) in East Berlin, Connecticut

The Lead Engineer is responsible for the development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the system and its equipment to meet the mission and objectives of the organization. In addition, this position coordinates the evaluation of system failures, and the appropriate resolutions, in order to provide support to operations on unplanned maintenance. Responsible for ensuring that the Eversource gas distribution systems are designed to high quality standards that provide customers with safe, reliable, competitively priced and environmentally sound gas service. This position shares accountability with peers in the strategy, development, and design of the organization’s Life Cycle Plan, a comprehensive long-term plan for the gas distribution system. Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing and directing the work performed by other Engineers and staff.

This is a hybrid position. The first three months will be full-time in the office.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises, coaches, and develops engineers; approves time and conducts performance reviews. Assigns, prioritizes and directs work performed by at least 2 FTE Engineers or 1 FTE Engineer and 1 FTE Program Manager.
  • Manages and leads elements of the Gas Asset & Risk Management Program to ensure regulatory requirements and business goals are met.
  • Manages and leads elements of the EGMA Safety Assessment to ensure regulatory requirements and business goals are met.
  • Works to ensure the Gas Asset & Risk Management Program is effective ands continue to drive down risk.
  • Drives improvements and changes to the Gas Asset & Risk Management Program.
  • Collaborates with other stakeholders to lead change, drive efficiency and meet operational goals.
  • Provides technical support and direction to operating areas relative to system priorities, engineering guidelines and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations.
  • Accountable for root-cause analysis, development and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Responsible for the evaluation and selection of technology and equipment for the system.
  • Responsible for the development of standards and procedures for design, operation and maintenance.
  • Monitors project progress and recommends schedule changes, cost and resource adjustments required to meet company objectives
  • Ensures project work is conducted in a manner consistent with the Company’s safety and procurement policies and programs
  • Collects and analyzes data to support risk assessment.
  • Identifies and prioritizes top risks and develops and recommends mitigation programs to reduce or eliminate risk.
  • Develops and monitors performance measure to track progress of mitigation programs.
  • Prepares data, charts, graphs, reports and presentations to gas leadership team.
  • Provides direction to junior staff and reviews work.
  • Assumes the role of the Manager as required

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills andattention-to-detail.
  • Working knowledge of standard office computer software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Education:

  • Requires a BS Engineering or BS Engineering Technology

Experience :

  • Eight years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the gas distribution industry.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $137310 to $152570, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

Must be available to travel between MA/CT as necessary

This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position.
