Adecco US, Inc. Environmental Health & Safety Specialist in San Jose, California

Adecco's client, a leading chemical supplier servicing industrial sectors and water treatment industry, is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join their team in San Jose, California. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of our facility in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, with a focus on OSHA and DOT requirements. This is a FT, permanent job - sitting onsite at the San Jose facility (this is not a remote job).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental health and safety (EHS) programs and policies to ensure a safe working environment, and one that follows regulatory standards, including OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and CalARP.

  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the facility to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks.

  • Provide guidance and training to employees on safety protocols, procedures, and best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Manage and maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required documentation and permits.

  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses to identify underlying issues and prevent future occurrences.

  • Stay abreast of changes in environmental health and safety regulations and industry best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in a chemical manufacturing or similar industry.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA compliance, DOT, Cal/OSHA, and CalARP regulations, with experience in interpreting and implementing regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) are a plus.

  • Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) is desirable.

  • Must be able to report to the San Jose facility daily, with the ability to make monthly trips to other site locations as needed (10-15% of the time).

The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records subject to federal contractor requirements and/or security clearance requirements.

Pay Details: $75,000.00 to $90,000.00 per year
