Sr Data Architect will be part of the China Business Intelligence team within China Finance Group, who are providing end-to-end data solutions to our internal customers, including Reporting & Analytics, Data Science and Data Engineering applications. This is a key position in the team and will have to work with senior leaders of Thermo Fisher as well as other Finance and Commercial teams.

This role shall take ownership as a main force of development, extension, and maintenance of the infrastructures of our data platform. They shall be strongly determined to build a sustainable, extensible, well-documented data ecosystem. The major focus of the role is data warehouse and ETL development. The candidate is also assumed to be fully comfortable to develop in-house ETL tools using Python to empower the sophisticated business logic and flexible data transformation implementation needs.

Key Responsibility:

• Be a key contributor to data modeling, creation of data workflow and database design.

• Keep building new data pipelines to enrich the dataset in our data warehouse.

• Design and implement data transformations to meet sophisticated business logic and rules.

• Assure high data quality and troubleshoot any claimed or found data gaps.

• Manage ETL jobs cadence, data backup and restoration.

• Maintain design and development documentation with industry-accepted standard.

Requirements:

• Hands on development experience in Data Engineering Project is Mandatory

• Must have at least 5 years of experience with Python Development including Technical Design, Dataflow/ETL Design, Data Development of various components and features

• Proficiency in SQL (different flavors).

• Experience with relational database management like SQL-Server, Oracle, MySQL.

• Experience with Cloud-based data platform (Azure, AWS RedShift) development is a plus

• Experience in managing projects using Waterfall / Agile / Scrum methodology

Qualifications:

• Major in computer science, software engineering, or similar subjects

• 8+ years’ experience in using Python as a major development language, with ETL / data warehouse development experience being a plus.

• Comfortable with and skillful at using Python / SQL to build an in-house ETL platform without relying on 3rd party ETL tools.

• Nice to have knowledge of different mainstream ERP and CRM systems.​

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to business partners

Other Skills:

• Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to connect with internal business team in a non-technical manner

• Must be able to work with and effectively communicate (listen, speak, present and write) to all levels of management and build working relationship with others outside of the team

• Ability to organize, disseminate information efficiently and set expectations
