Job Description

Job Purpose:

Being part of the technical support team the person is responsible for providing expert technical hardware support to Renesas customers and the Renesas Field Application Engineers.

The ideal candidate must be an expert in evaluation and debugging of battery powered, mixed signal wireless systems. The person must also have a good understanding of the hardware functionality on a mixed signal System On a Chip. The job requires experience in printed circuit board design and operation of test equipment for 2.4GHz wireless devices (Spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, communication tester etc.). Experience in Bluetooth or other short-range wireless standards is required.

The Senior Hardware Technical Support Engineer is a good communicator in speaking and writing.

The HW Technical support engineer is reporting to the business unit Customer support manager.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Providing excellent technical support to Renesas customers world-wide to bring their end-products to the market quicker.

• Direct interface to engineers at the customer and Renesas design partners

• Training to: customers, internal FAE’s, Design houses

• Hardware problem solving, debugging, testing, Failure analysis.

• Schematic/Layout reviews of 2.4GHz wireless systems.

• Selection of external components: XTALs, caps, Coils, filters,

• Contribute to product manuals and collateral.

• World wide travelling 5-10%

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• 5-10 years’ experience in customer support of 2.4GHz wireless IC’s preferably Bluetooth (low Energy)

• Key skills: HW debugging, analog and RF measurements, Battery management, Switch-mode power supplies

• PCB design tools, Antenna design

• Familiar with SW development tools for embedded software (Keil, Eclipse)

• Strong communication skills (English), Direct interface to engineers at the customer, understanding their needs, must be able to build and maintain good internal and external relations
